What to do after getting hurt at a mall

1. Get medical attention right away.
2. Report the incident to mall security or management and ask for a copy or reference number of the incident report.
3. Take photos of the hazard, lighting, warning signs (or lack of them), and your injuries.
4. Get witness names and contact information.
5. Ask that video be preserved. Malls often record over surveillance footage quickly, so a written preservation request matters.
6. Keep your shoes and clothing as they were.
